Laura Ann Celebrates

Candy Corn Tree!

October 10, 2013

WHAT COULD BE SWEETER!

Described as “the ultimate Halloween candy” by the Huffington Post, they also put it on the worst Halloween candy list.

They state that they make you feel “pretty sick,” even if you only eat a few.

Though it’s not always good to eat too many of them, they are a must for Halloween.

So, since not every one enjoys consuming these overly sweet chunks of sugar, we will decorate with them.

I buy them every year, just like everyone else and always try to think of a way to highlight them.

I think this is a very fun project that the kids will love to help out with.

The colors of the candy corn give the appearance of an illuminated tree.

A quick trip to the craft store, to pick up a Styrofoam cone and a couple bags of candy corn and you have yourself an adorable centerpiece.

Hint, Hint, Hint…

You will definitely want to get more than one bag of candy corn.

Not all of those little corn pieces come in perfect condition and you will only want to use the pretty ones.

Many are broken, which means more for you to munch on, as you work.

I will also warn you that this does take some time to put together and a little patience, but well worth it in the end.

(Don’t you think)

Now to assemble the tree, I simply broke tooth picks in half and attached them to the fat end of each corn kernel.

Next, just start inserting them into the Styrofoam form, starting at the bottom.

Continue to circle around the tree and you will see it grow before your very eyes.

I would love to tell you how many candy corn are on this tree, but I lost count.

When you finally get to the top, continue to circle and put one candy corn right at the top of the tree.

If you really want to, feel free to put your own topper on the tree.

This is one we tried for fun.

A sweet centerpiece, indeed!
