Halloween DIY!

Halloween Place Mat

Halloween really lends itself to DIY projects.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that and you can have something really great.

If things don’t go quite the way you wanted them to, then you just call it scary.

I think these place mats are really the perfect project.

This is a no-sew project and requires only basic tools.

To get started you will need:

2 pieces of stiff felt in two contrasting colors. (we used black and orange)

A Bottle of Fabic Tack or other kind of adhessive

                                                                                                                         Pen/Scissors/Ruler/Rick-Rack/Embellishments

It really is very simple. You just measure a 41/2 ” square out of the orange felt.

Then glue three sides of the square to the back of the felt place mat. Be careful to leave the top unglued to make a pocket for the utensils.

To dress up the pocket, as we did, you can glue a ribbon across the pocket, tucking the ends behind the pocket.

Then glue strips of Rick – Rack to the top and bottom of the place mat.

Lastly, add pieces of bakers twine for the spider to hang from and then attach the spider to the ends.

Really, you can add any embellishments.

There are so many options. Let your imagination go wild!

These are adorable and inexpensive, but add a big wow to the Halloween decor.

You could make a different theme for each person at the table, or make a matching set.

Whatever you decide, have fun and be creative!

A very sweet idea!
