Remember When… Halloween Style!
Remember when you were a kid and you would get so excited about Halloween?
I’m sure everybody can remember those days of picking out your costume, making plans for Trick-or-Treating, and all the Fall festivities.
One of the fondest memories I have from those days was the Halloween cereals.
Count Chocula, Frakenberry, and of course Boo Berry!
I just loved them all and I still get excited when they come out on the shelves each year.
I decided that it would be fun to make our favorite Halloween Characters into cookies.
I have to say that I find character cookies to be the most difficult kind of cookies to decorate.
However, there are some tricks that make the job a little easier to accomplish.
For instance, I do not own cookie cutters in these shapes. (Shocking to anyone who knows me.)
So, to take care of this problem, I traced the images of the character right off the box, using a marker and parchment paper.
Once I had the image, then I placed it directly onto the dough and carefully cut the dough out with a knife.
Now I just baked it in the oven and decorated. That sounds so easy doesn’t it?
To make decorating a little easier, I used a projector.
Just follow the lines and fill in with the icing.
By adding all the details, you really bring the characters to life.
I only showed you Frankenberry, but the same was done with the other characters as well.
BooBerry!
And of course Count Chocula!
Remember that it just started out with The Count and FrankenBerry, then along came Boo.
Bring them all together and you have some vintage 70’s fun!
I love that every Halloween, they still come around and now I can share them with my kids.
Spoiler alert: I will be mailing some boxes up to my boys at college.
You are never too old for Halloween!
Happy Throwback Thursday!
