Happy Labor Day to everyone!
It’s another great day to celebrate the good old red, white and blue. I love using the flag and its’ colors to pull together a little celebration.
Here we used the perfect white hydrangea and the very inexpensive red carnation to provide a terrific floral focal point.
Big bang, for the buck and giving a burst of color.
Every celebration must have some special treats, that are as fun to look at, as they are to eat.
We used red and white m&m’s in blue nut cups to stay with our patriotic theme.
The cupcakes were a delicious devils food with a beautiful, cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with blue sugar on top.
It’s so fun to make treats that you can put on a stick.
Maybe it’s the nostalgia of a fair, but food is just more appealing on a stick.
These yummy brownies are so easy to put together and make a a wonderful presentation.
Just make a simple pan of brownies and use a star cookie cutter to cut out star shapes.
After a little trial and error we found it very easy to leave the brownie in the cookie cutter and push the frosting into the bottom of the brownie, so it would keep its shape.
Now just press the cutter back into the brownie and presto you have your brownie sandwich.
Then poke it carefully out of the cutter and sprinkle the frosting with red, white and blue non-perils.
Lastly, you want to make it POP!
Literally, turn it into a brownie sandwich pop. Which you do by sticking a straw into the icing.
Now it is ready to place into a container, layered with red, white and blue M&M’s.
Setting it all against a chalk board and some festive medallions gives the celebration a perfect patriotic feel.
However you decide to celebrate, I hope you all have a very Happy Labor Day!
