Easy Caramel Pie
Fall is here and caramel is the perfect flavor to help you celebrate. Today is National Dessert Day and this pie will make the whole house smile. It’s easy to make, but does take quite a bit of time.
To make this pie you only need a couple of ingredients.
Two cans of sweetened condensed milk
One graham cracker pie crust
One container of Cool Whip
Once you have your ingredients, take the two cans of sweetened condensed milk and remove the labels.
Then place the cans into a pot of boiling water, making sure that the water covers the cans,
but not all the way up to the top.
Reduce the heat to a low boil and cook on the stove top for three and a half hours.
Throughout the cooking time you will have to add water to make sure that the cans stay covered.
Once the cans have cooked for three and a half hours, carefully remove them from the pot and let them sit for ten minutes.
Now you will want to to open the cans and get to the goodness.
Be sure you do this step carefully, as the caramel will want to squirt out of the can.
Now it needs to be covered and put into the freezer.
We just used the plastic cover that came with the pie crust and flipped it over to cover the pie.
Now, simply pour the gooey caramel into the pie crust and cover to put into the freezer.
We just used the plastic cover that came with the pie crust and flipped it over to cover the pie.
Now place it in the freezer and let it set for a minimum of three hours.
Once you remove it from the freezer, top it with the Cool Whip and garnish with anything you like. We drizzled on some chocolate syrup and crushed Oreos.
Now you will want to return it to the freezer for an hour to set .
( Actually you will want to take a fork and start eating, but instead, patiently wait the hour while the pie is in the freezer and firms up into a delicious, easy to cut, piece of heaven)
Yummy, yummy, yummy
Happy National Dessert Day!
