Painted Patriotic Cork
There are never enough trivets, or pot holders to put your hot dishes on when you are having a party and they don’t always look too pretty either.
It is so important to protect your surfaces and you certainly want to do it in style.
We have a fabulous solution that is easy to do and look so good on the table or counter top.
We started with this great long cork base and used red, white and blue paint, some Frog Tape, and a simple sponge brush.
You can use any cork shape that you can find and fits your needs.
Now that we have all the materials its time to get started.
Use the Frog tape to tape off your flag design, as we have here.
Now, get that paint out and get to work.
It literally takes minutes to paint and almost no time to dry.
Definitely something you could pull together last minute.
As you can see, there is no need to worry about being neat because that green tape will keep the paint from bleeding over to the other areas.
Well worth the time to tape off the lines.
Once you finish with your red stripes go ahead and slap some blue paint down and admire your sloppy paint job.
Oncethe paint has dried a bit you can remove the tape to reveal your American flag design.
Now the only thing left to do is to give this flag its stars.
We simply dipped a star shaped cookie cutter in a bit of white paint and used it as a stamp.
(TIP: Cookie cutters make great stamps and templates.)
Once you dip and stamp you are done.
Now you have a trivet that will protect your furniture from all those yummy treats you will be putting on your table for the 4th.
Happy 4th of July!
