No Sew Utensil Holder
Making this easy, no-sew utensil holder will really dress up your 4th of July table.
I bought a roll of burlap ribbon that already had a cute red stripe down the middle and turned it into this patriotic pocket to hold the utensils at each place.
I found this roll at Michael for about $11.00. (don’t forget the coupon)
Tip: If you don’t have a Michael’s coupon you can always pull up a 40% coupon on your smartphone from HobbyLobby.com.
So here are some of the things you will need.
The roll of burlap.
Decorative ribbon
Fabri-Tac fabric glue
Scissors
and I used some star shaped buttons (not pictured)
First, cut a 20 inch strip of your burlap ribbon.
Turn it over and mark two 8″ segments, leaving 4″ at the end.
Fold in 8″ segment over the other 8″ segment and glue together with your Fabri-Tac glue.
TIP: Put freezer paper underneath your work surface, as the glue will slightly bleed through the burlap.
Now you are left with your 4″ pocket at the bottom.
Before you glue the sides to create your pocket you will want to decorate the edge with some decorative ribbon.
Cut a piece of ribbon about 2″ longer than the edge of the pocket.
Now glue to the edge.
With the tail that is hanging off the side you will add a bead of glue and fold it over to create a clean finished edge.
Add a line of glue to the sides and fold up to create your pocket.
Now that you have the pocket made, it’s time for the fun.
Adding some buttons and a bow really dresses this up for your 4th of July table.
Since we are gluing these on and we don’t want to glue the pocket together, you will want to insert a strip of freezer paper inside the pocket until the glue is dried.
Make a cute little bow and add dome decorative buttons.
Once the glue has dried, remove the freezer paper and place in your napkin (a bandanna would be fun) and your utensils.
I thought the pinwheel was a nice touch.
Maybe throw in some sparklers.
Time to set the table!
