4th Of July Salad To Go!
4th of July weekend is all about picnics, the beach and backyard fun.
So, whether you are going to someone else’s house, or packing up the picnic to take to the beach, this salad is the perfect take along.
The big trick is to put your salad into a cup with a lid, which makes it super easy to transport to whatever your destination is for the day.
Then when you are ready to serve to your guests, you simply stick a fork in the top instead of a straw.
Now it’s just grab and go.
For this particular salad we made BBQ ranch dressing which we put into the cup first, so everything doesn’t get soggy.
Super simple to just mix your favorite ranch dressing with your favorite BBQ sauce and presto you have yummy ranch BBQ dressing.
(Obviously, you can use whatever dressing you like and make whatever salad you think your guests will enjoy, but for the 4th we went for BBQ)
Now the fun begins. Time to layer the salad.
In goes that sweet and tangy dressing.
Now layer in your greens.
To add some protein to the salad we wanted to use bbq chicken.
Hint: You can buy a whole fully cooked rotisserie chicken, at the grocery store, usually cheaper than an uncooked one and you save yourself some time.
Just pull that juicy meat off the bone and coat it with the bbq sauce.
Looking good so far.
Layer in the chicken and then start adding any other veggies and goodness that you love.
We topped the chicken with some tomatoes and corn and of course some good old cheddar cheese.
Now you are ready to rock and roll.
Snap a lid on the top and you are good to go.
Pack it up and stick a fork in the lid before you serve. That way nobody is searching for their utensil.
So fast and easy and everybody loves to have their own individual serving.
Bonus: The lid also helps to keep the bugs out of your food until you are ready to eat. 🙂
I hope you enjoy the salad and have a ton of fun this weekend!
Happy Birthday America!
