Laura Ann Celebrates

Turkey Time!

November 18, 2013

No Bake Turkey!

Thanksgiving is all about the bird, right?

Do you remember sitting at the kids table?

I do and now I realize that it was the coolest seat in the house.

What I wouldn’t give to belong there again.

These turkey cookies will add a special something to any table you choose to put them on.

This bird requires no oven and very little time.

The preparation for these little guys is fun and simple and can be prepared by the kids as well.

What fun it would be to have these sitting on the plate, to greet each of your guests, as they come to the table.

(Ready to gobble up a delicious meal!)

Using store bought cookies and some readily available candy, these were a snap to put together.

Either, use the candy we used or get creative and create your own Tom Turkey.

For ours, we used two mini chocolate chips for eyes, a piece of fruit roll up for the waddle and a candy triangle for the beak.

(Just roll a tiny piece of the fruit roll up with your fingers and shape)

The feet are a mini orange slice cut in half and glued to the cookie with white chocolate.

Step by step they come together and really start to look adorable!

Once you have the little guys all dolled up, then glue them to the base cookie.

(Again with chocolate, not real glue.)

Place a striped cookie behind him and that would be cute enough , or keep going and add more to create a feathered tail.

We used Air Head candy to make the feathers.

Basically, we rolled them out a bit with the rolling pin. Then using scissors, cut them into feather shapes.

Next, just glue them to the back.

(Remember, with chocolate.)

To finish them off (not something a turkey likes to hear) we sprinkled the bottom with candy leaf sprinkles.

A super easy decoration for your Thanksgiving day table.

The perfect touch to the family day!

They look great! A great, fun, entertaining (occupying) activity for the kids — that Dad would obviously have to taste test!
